On April 21-22, the III International scientific and practical conference of master's degree students, postgraduates and young scientists “LANGUAGE AND TRANSLATION IN THE CONTEXT OF INTERCULTURAL COMMUNICATION: RELEVANT ISSUES AND CONTEMPORARY PERSPECTIVES” was held at SFedU.
The conference was held within the framework of the “Science Week – 2023” of SFedU in a hybrid format. The event was organized by the International Institute of Interdisciplinary Education and Ibero-American Studies.
In her welcoming speech, President of SFedU Marina Borovskaya welcomed everyone, stressed the importance of the conference as a platform for students to exchange scientific experience and opinions on translation and intercultural communication, and wished them successful and productive work.
Alexey Lavrov, President of the Russian Society for Friendship with Cuba, Deputy Minister of Finance of the Russian Federation, addressed the participants of the conference and International Academic Online Talks. He drew attention to the fact that SFedU is a basic platform for the development of scientific, social and cultural ties between Russia and Latin American countries and noted that such events greatly contribute to the development of international relationships.
On behalf of the Rector of SFedU, Natalia Karpovskaya, the Rector's Plenipotentiary representative in the Ibero-American area, Director of the International Institute of Interdisciplinary Education and Ibero-American Studies, congratulated the young researchers on the start of the conference, stressing that one of the goals of this event is to develop intercultural ties and mutual understanding between peoples, as well as strengthen academic and scientific contacts among Russian and foreign universities.
The main directions of the conference were: educational technologies in the process of teaching foreign languages, current problems of intercultural communication, linguoculturological and cognitive-pragmatic aspects of translation, language as a marker of ethno-cultural identity, reflection of intercultural interaction in native and foreign literature, effective communication in various social spheres, as well as modern issues of linguistics of text and discourse.
The event was attended by bachelors, master's degree students, postgraduates and young scientists of Francisk Skorina Gomel State University (Belarus), Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno (Belarus), Uzbek State University of World Languages (Uzbekistan), Hebei Pedagogical University (China), as well as representatives of Russian universities: Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov, Moscow State Linguistic University, Moscow Pedagogical State University, Moscow City Pedagogical University, Peoples' Friendship University of Russia, Sochi Institute (branch of Peoples' Friendship University of Russia), Voronezh State University, Trans-Baikal State University, Irkutsk State University, St. Petersburg State University, Kazan (Volga Region) Federal University, Donetsk State University, Kuban State University, Siberian Federal University, Ural Federal University named after the first President of Russia B.N. Yeltsin, etc.
The XIV International Academic Online Talks were organized on the site of the Virtual University “World without Borders”. The lecture “Public organizations in the paradigm of international cooperation: the experience of the Russian Friendship Society with Cuba” was delivered by Candidate of Geographical Sciences, President of the Russian Friendship Society with Cuba, Deputy the Minister of Finance of the Russian Federation Alexey Lavrov. Olga Zheleznyakova, PhD, Associate Professor of the Minsk State Linguistic University (Belarus) presented a lecture on the psychophysiological aspects of interpretation. Doctor of Philology, Professor Lyudmila Savenkova from Southern Federal University, delivered a lecture “Small Prose by M.A. Sholokhov as a means of humanistic reflection of foreign students”.
In total, more than 250 people from Russia, Belarus, Uzbekistan, China, Afghanistan, Colombia and Venezuela took part in the event. More than 190 young researchers from 38 Russian and foreign universities took part in the sessions at the International Conference with reports.
