On 13.07.2023, the hosts of the Argentine radio Pax Russika – AM 740 Radio Rebelde interviewed Irina Nikolaevna Savchenkova, the head of the Department of the Russian Language and General Education Disciplines for Foreign Students of the International Institute of Interdisciplinary Education and Ibero-American Studies of SFedU. The invitation from the radio editorial board to take part in the radio program was caused by the great interest of the Argentine audience in Russian education in general and the Southern Federal University in particular. This interest among Argentines is not accidental. Russian teachers of the International Institute of Interdisciplinary Education and Ibero-American Studies have been conducting specialized Russian language courses for Latin American citizens in SFedU for the third year in the framework of a project with the Russian World Foundation. The project, in addition to groups from Argentina, includes groups from Venezuela and Brazil. However, not only students from these countries study in these groups, but also representatives of Panama, Chile, El Salvador, Ecuador, Colombia, etc.
In the interview, I.N. Savchenkova spoke about the system of pre-university language training for foreigners, about the diversity of the main educational programs of the university, about priority areas of research, shared information about the methods of admission to SFedU, about the possibility of obtaining a quota for training from the Government of the Russian Federation. The presenters were also interested in areas of study of SFedU that are the most attractable for students from Latin America.
A special place in the interview was also occupied by the topic of teaching Russian to Spanish-speaking students. The experience of SFedU in this matter is of great interest to many specialists of the Russian Academy of Sciences due to the fact that the teachers of the International Institute of Interdisciplinary Education and Ibero-American Studies of SFedU have developed specialized programs in the Russian language, taking into account the technologies focused on learning and creating textbooks for native speakers of Spanish language.
The interview was conducted online in Spanish. Radio representatives expressed hope for further participation of SFedU employees in Radio Rebelde broadcasts.
