On November 1, the annual student conference "Language, literature and culture of Spain and Latin American countries" was held at the Southern Federal University as part of the academic mobility week. The International Institute of Interdisciplinary Education and Ibero-American Studies organized the event.
Natalia Karpovskaya, a plenipotentiary of the rector in the countries of the Ibero-American area and a Director of the International Institute of Interdisciplinary Education and Ibero-American Studies, addressed the participants with a welcoming speech. She reminded the audience that the first student conference was held in 2002. Over the past 17 years, both the format and the composition of the conference have changed: for many years, the conference has traditionally been attended by SFedU students and students from universities of Spain and Latin American countries. Irina Abkadyrova, an acting head of Department of Ibero-American studies in language, translation and intercultural communication also welcomed the participants.
The conference was preceded by two video greetings from students of the University of UniNorte (Paraguay): Luz E. Gaona Ramirez and Gabriel S. Lombardo Diaz, who participated in the conference in absentia.
The speakers touched on various issues related to historical, cultural, linguistic aspects, as well as political, socio-economic problems of Spain and Latin American countries.
