The XIV International Academic Online Talks were held at SFedU

On April 21, the XIV International Academic Online Talks “Philology, Intercultural Communication and Translation in the XXI century” took place on the basis of the international network multilingual Virtual University “World Without Borders” of the International Institute of Interdisciplinary Education and Ibero-American Studies of SFedU. Representatives of the scientific and pedagogical community of Russian and foreign universities and organizations participated in the XIV International Academic Online Talks.

The International Academic Online Talks coincided with the “Science Week of SFedU” and were held at the sites of the III International scientific and practical conference of master's degree students, postgraduates and young scientists “LANGUAGE AND TRANSLATION IN THE CONTEXT OF INTERCULTURAL COMMUNICATION: RELEVANT ISSUES AND CONTEMPORARY PERSPECTIVES”.

At the opening of the International Academic Online Talks, a welcoming speech was made by M. A. Borovskaya, President of Southern Federal University, A.M. Lavrov, President of the Russian Friendship Society with Cuba, Deputy Minister of Finance of the Russian Federation, who also acted as a lecturer at this event, and N. V. Karpovskaya, the Rector's plenipotentiary representative in the Ibero-American area, Director of the International Institute of Interdisciplinary Education and Ibero-American Studies.

In his report “Public organizations in the paradigm of international cooperation: the experience of the Russian Friendship Society with Cuba” Alexey Mikhailovich spoke about the history of the creation, goals and main activities of the Russian Friendship Society with Cuba, presented a brief summary of the history of relations between Russia and Cuba, Cuban revolutionary leaders and the Caribbean crisis. In addition, A. M. Lavrov paid special attention to the personalities who in different years held the post of president of the Russian Friendship Society with Cuba, and invited the staff and students of SFedU to take part in the events of the Russian Friendship Society with Cuba.

One of the lecturers of the XIV International Academic Online Talks was the associate professor of the Minsk State Linguistic University (Belarus), O. V. Zheleznyakova, who presented a report on the topic “Psychophysiological foundations of preparation for interpretation”. As part of her speech, Olga Viktorovna introduced the participants of International Academic Online Talks and the Conference to the specifics of preparing students for interpretation, and told about the peculiarities of the translator's thinking during simultaneous translation. In addition, the speaker invited the audience to perform several exercises aimed at aimed at activating the work of both hemispheres of the brain, which contributed to the involvement of listeners in the problems of the lecture.

The report of Professor of Southern Federal University, L. B. Savenkova, which was devoted to “The Small Prose of M. A. Sholokhov as a means of humanistic reflection of foreign students” aroused great interest of the participants of the XIV International Academic Online Talks and the Conference.  As part of her report, Lyudmila Borisovna told the audience about the possibilities of using literary texts in teaching Russian to foreign students. Referring to the story of M. A. Sholokhov “Foal”, she demonstrated how to build a plan of a lesson devoted to Russian literature in stages as part of the training of foreign students.

All the reports aroused great interest among the listeners, who were not only able to get acquainted with the approach of the lecturers to solving various problems, but also had the opportunity to ask questions.

International Academic Online Talks were held in a hybrid format: in person, at Southern Federal University sites, and remotely, on the MS Teams platform. The event was attended by more than 250 people from 38 Russian and foreign universities.
