From August 15 to 17, the VIII International Colloquium «Literatura, Traducción y Cultura» took place at the Autonomous University of the State of Mexico (Mexico). It was dedicated to the reflection of cultural characteristics in literature, the problems of translation of literary works and the role of translation in the process of intercultural communication.
Within the framework of the colloquium, held in a hybrid format, the results of the research were shared by representatives of the scientific and pedagogical community of universities in Mexico, Romania, Russia and Serbia, who spoke in Spanish.
At the international colloquium Russia was represented by Southern Federal University. Natalia Karpovskaya, Director of the International Institute of Interdisciplinary Education and Ibero-American Studies, made a keynote speech on the topic «Sobre una pesadilla del traductor literario: potencial cognitivo-pragmático de palabras» on August 17. The report aroused great interest among the colleagues and students. After an hour-long magistral report, a discussion took place. During the discussion the participants actively asked questions not only about the peculiarities of the translator's work, but also about the works of Russian literature, which indicates their desire to get acquainted with Russian culture more deeply.
At the end of the event, the organizers expressed the hope that representatives of Southern Federal University will join the University Network of Researchers in the Field of translation, founded by the Autonomous University of the State of Mexico. This will contribute to further fruitful cooperation and joint research.
